Venetia "Pete" Laman, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, left this world with grace and love on March 30, 2026, at the age of 92, surrounded by her devoted husband and beloved children. Born in the quaint town of Richland, Michigan, on May 13, 1933, Pete's life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to family and community. Pete was the beloved daughter of Harvey and June Enzian, and it was in Richland where she spent her formative years, graduating from Richland High School in 1951. Her pursuit of knowledge and passion for nurturing young minds led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University in 1964. Soon after, she embarked on a gratifying career at Hartford Elementary School, where she touched countless lives from 1946 until her retirement in 1978. Her dedication to education was a beacon of light to her students, who remember her fondly as a teacher who not only educated but inspired. In 1953, Pete married the love of her life, John Laman, at the Richland Methodist Church. Their union, which spanned an extraordinary 72 years, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children John (Cathie) and Kerry (Rick) Samulak, who blessed them with seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, ensuring that Pete's legacy of love and kindness would continue to flourish through generations. Pete's life was enriched by her involvement in the Hartford United Methodist Church, where her musical talents were greatly cherished. As a long-time member, she shared her love for music by accompanying the congregation and choir on the organ and piano. Her melodious contributions were a source of joy and inspiration, resonating in the hearts of all who heard her play. A woman of many talents and passions, Pete found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Summers spent at their lake home in Paw Paw, Michigan, were filled with laughter and love as she entertained family and friends, creating memories that will be cherished forever. An avid music lover, she not only played and taught piano but also lent her beautiful voice to the church choir. In addition to her parents, Pete was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Jim Roberts. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on in the hearts of her surviving family members, including her devoted husband, John, who stood by her side through every chapter of their remarkable journey together. A celebration of Pete's life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Hartford United Methodist Church, located at 425 E Main St, Hartford, MI. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a cause close to Pete's heart, honoring her generous spirit and dedication to making the world a better place. Pete's warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives of all those she touched. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and music will continue to inspire us all.
