With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Vaneta Rae Harper, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on April 24, 2026, at the age of 72. Vaneta passed peacefully in the embrace of her family, following a stroke, surrounded by love and the comforting presence of her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren.
Born on January 2, 1954, in the heartland of Kansas, Vaneta was the cherished daughter of Dale Moffitt and Evelyn. Her life was a testament to the strength of family, the joy of creativity, and the warmth of friendship. She embodied a spirit of generosity and kindness, qualities that left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Vaneta shared a beautiful life with her husband, Jay W. Harper, with whom she built a family filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Jason Harper (Monica), Marty, Brian Harper (Christine), and J.W. Harper. Her nurturing spirit extended further to her eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, whom she adored and cherished deeply.
A woman of many talents, Vaneta was a self-taught master in various fields, from upholstery and vehicle repair to home remodeling and computer technology. Later in life, she discovered her extraordinary gift for painting, mastering oils, acrylics, and watercolors. Her artworks, treasured by her family and friends, are a testament to her vibrant creativity and serve as enduring symbols of her love and affection.
Vaneta was a Christian woman who lived her faith with grace and humility. Her welcoming nature meant that there were no strangers in her life, only friends she had yet to meet. She touched the lives of many with her kind words, open heart, and unwavering support, fostering a community built on compassion and understanding.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jay; her children and their spouses; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Lynda Klaes; and her brother, Chris Moffitt. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to be a guiding light for them and all who knew her.
Vaneta's life will be celebrated in a service that honors her extraordinary journey, her boundless love for her family, and her remarkable talents. She will be laid to rest surrounded by the beauty of her beloved Kansas, a fitting tribute to a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Vaneta’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and her love for helping others.
