Valeta Arlean Zender Mattison

Valeta Arlean Zender Mattison, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 102. Born on March 7, 1924, in Mexico, NY to parents Frank and Mildred Zender. Valeta married Burton W. Mattison, on May 9, 1941. They were married 76 years until his passing in 2017. Predeceased by her parents; her husband, Burton; her infant daughter, Bonnie; her daughter, Joyce Francis; and siblings Ivan, Doris, Verna, Frank, Carl, Earl, Richard, and Harold. Valeta is survived by her siblings; James Zender and Mary Alice Myers, her children; Gene (Rheta) Mattison, Donna (Dwayne) Schriner, Dale Mattison, Cheryl (Ted) Cassick, Kevin (Holly) Mattison, and Christie (Tom) Mattison. Her family also includes numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with countless extended family members and friends, all of whom will deeply miss her presence. Valeta was once an active member of her senior citizens group, where she delighted in both attending and teaching various craft projects. Her passion for crafting, ceramics, and crocheting brought joy not only to her but to those who received her lovingly made creations. Whether she was winning a card game or calling out a triumphant "Bingo!", Valeta's zest for life was infectious. Her life was celebrated in a private ceremony, honoring her wishes for an intimate gathering with those closest to her heart. Valeta Arlean Zender Mattison's spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched, a gentle reminder to hug those you love and live every day to its fullest!
