Born on February 17, 1963, in Gaffney, South Carolina, Valerie was a beacon of light and strength to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Valerie was the cherished daughter of the late Billy Degree and Hilda Mae Wilson Degree. She was deeply influenced by her parents' love and dedication, lessons she carried with her throughout her life. Though she faced loss with their passing, Valerie remained resilient and compassionate, qualities she passed on to her own family. Her legacy continues through her loving children: Raven Degree, Farris Degree, Courtney Sarratt (Kendrick), Amber Degree, Kayle Degree, and Hillary Degree. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, sharing her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering spirit. Valerie’s greatest joy was her family, and she found immense pride in her role as a grandmother to 21 adoring grandchildren. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth and laughter, where her grandchildren learned the values of love, courage, and kindness. Valerie’s life was characterized by her dedication to her family, her community, and her unyielding spirit. She was a woman of deep faith and conviction, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her generous spirit was felt by all who crossed her path.
