Valeriano Galvez, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on September 11, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Born on October 18, 1956, in the sunlit town of Santa Maria, California, Val was the beloved son of the late Valeriano and Maria Galvez.
Val was a man of profound integrity and warmth, recognized by all who knew him for his ever-present smile and comforting nature. He shared a close bond with his sister, Letti Galvez, and created an enduring love story with his wife, Laurie Galvez, together they navigated 35 joyful years, building a family rooted in love and respect in Indianapolis, Indiana.
A devoted father, Val's pride and joy were his children: Michelle (married to Jeff Becker), Jeff (married to Samantha Galvez), Candice (married to Billy Cline), Leslie (married to Patrick Miller), and Chelsea Galvez (Ruben Cervantes). His life was further enriched by his six adored grandchildren—Demerie, Julian, William, Mallory, Parker and Kai—each a testament to his enduring legacy of kindness and wisdom.
Val's journey toward a life of service began after graduating from Santa Maria High School when he joined the U.S. Army. He dedicated himself to a distinguished career as a Military Police officer, eventually retiring as a Command Sergeant Major, a role that highlighted his leadership and commitment to protecting others.
Beyond his military service, Val was a man of varied passions. He was a natural storyteller, often enthralling family and friends with tales from his army days. Val found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in sharing time with loved ones and delighting in karaoke sessions where his vibrant spirit shone through.
His love for rice and adobo was well-known among family and friends, as was his ability to offer sage advice that touched the lives of many. His grandchildren loved when he told them “It’s too windy you cannot go to the beach.”, it’s a memory they will always cherish. Val cherished the lifelong friendships he cultivated in his hometown of Santa Maria, California.
Val's life was marked by an unyielding generosity of spirit and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
