It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Valdez Richard Gooding, whose earthly journey ended on March 17, 2026, at the age of 71. Valdez was born on 29th December, 1954,in Four Roads, St. Philip, and he died peacefully at the First Choice Nursing Home, surrounded by the love and care of those who knew him best.
Valdez was the beloved son of Gervice Gooding and the late Ercille Callender, whose guiding spirits shaped his journey through life. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Marcia Gooding (née Holder), with whom he shared a beautiful partnership of love and companionship.
As a cherished father, Valdez nurtured and guided his sons, Roger and Robert Gooding, instilling in them the values of kindness, integrity, and perseverance. His legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren, Zara Maynard and Christien Gooding, who brought immense joy and pride into his life.
Valdez was a devoted brother to Marcia and David Gooding, and a caring uncle to Khiam, Keira, Tiffany, and many more, sharing in their lives with warmth and wisdom. He also held the special role of great uncle to many, extending his family’s love across generations.
A respected father-in-law to Delicia Gooding and brother-in-law to five, Valdez was a cherished member of the Holder family. His friendships were numerous, and he was a confidant and companion to many, leaving a mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His professional life was dedicated to education, having served as a teacher at Princess Margaret Secondary School, where he inspired countless students with his passion for learning and teaching. Beyond his career, Valdez was a committed member of the Grace Bible Church in Wellhouse, St. Philip, where he found community and spiritual solace.
A celebration of Valdez’s life will be held on March 17, 2026, at the Grace Bible Church, Wellhouse, St. Philip, follwed by his interment at Bushy Park Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and thanksgiving for a life well-lived.
