August 5, 1956 — June 27, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Val Dennis Fauntleroy, a beloved partner, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world on June 27, 2026, at his home. Born on August 5, 1956, in Nassawadox, Virginia, Val's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and enduring dedication to family and community.
Val's journey began in the close-knit community of Nassawadox, where he was raised with the values of kindness and generosity that would characterize his life. After graduating from Northampton High School, Val pursued higher education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and Virginia State College, where he nurtured his passion for learning and developed skills that would serve him throughout his career.
In the early 2000s, Val embarked on a fulfilling career as a car salesman, a role that allowed his natural charisma and genuine interest in people to shine. He began his career at Midway in Pocomoke, Maryland, before joining the team at The Car Store in Salisbury, Maryland. Val continued to work there until his illness forced him to step back in 2015. His colleagues and clients remember him for his quick wit, warm smile, and the heartfelt jokes that could lighten any mood.
Val's personal life was a testament to love and partnership. In 1990, he met the love of his life, Dorris Bailey, in Ocean City, Maryland. Together, they built a life full of joy and companionship, celebrating 36 wonderful years side by side. Dorris was not only his life partner but his confidante and closest friend, sharing countless memories and cherished moments.
Family was the cornerstone of Val's existence. He was a devoted stepfather to Alton Conner and a doting grandfather to Janara Fauntleroy, Jahkai Matthews, and Christian Fauntleroy. Val's family was his pride and joy, and he found immense pleasure in cooking on the grill for his loved ones, creating delicious meals infused with love and laughter. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Alberta Fauntleroy, his sister, Barbara Fauntleroy, and his son, Jacques Fauntleroy, whose memories he cherished deeply.
Val found happiness in simple pleasures, such as selling fresh produce, working on cars, and giving back to the community he held dear. His selflessness and compassion left a lasting impact on the lives of those around him. Val's kindness and generosity were unwavering, touching countless lives and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Val's memory will be forever cherished by his surviving family members, including his beloved partner, Dorris Bailey, his step-son Alton Conner, his grandchildren, his brother Tyrone Fortune, and his sisters Mary Hall, Demaris Wooten, Anita Jackson, Veronica Andrews, and Lenore Worthy. Each of them carries forward his legacy of love, kindness, and laughter.
A celebration of Val's life will be held on July 4, 2026, at 12:00 PM at New Beginnings Outreach Ministries, located at 1541 Ocean Highway, Pocomoke City, Maryland. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a remarkable man who brought joy to all who knew him.
