It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Kirk Turner, who left this world on March 21, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on May 27, 1963, in Chicago, Illinois, Kirk was a beacon of light, laughter, and love to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He now rests gently in the arms of those who preceded him, including his cherished parents, Grace Pearson and Virgil Turner Sr., his beloved wife Dena, and his dear siblings Victor, George, and King. Kirk was the youngest of eight children, a role he embraced with the vibrant energy that defined his life. He carried forward the legacy of his parents with grace, embodying their values and passing them on to his daughter, Kristen, born from his union with Dena. He leaves behind his loving wife, Ramona, with whom he shared a deep and abiding love since 2012, culminating in their marriage on August 31, 2014. Their love story was a testament to the beauty of finding a soulmate, and Ramona will forever cherish the memories they built together. Kirk's academic journey began at CVS High School, where he graduated in 1981. He pursued higher education at the University of Illinois, earning a Bachelor's degree while becoming a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Inc., a fraternity he remained active in throughout his life. His professional career was marked by a dedication to service, beginning as a daycare teacher and insurance agent, and culminating in a distinguished 30-year tenure as a Supervisor at the Juvenile Detention Center for the Cook County Government. Known for his quick wit, warm smile, and gift for lifting spirits with a well-timed joke, Kirk had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on countless lives. He was a man of many talents, finding joy in hobbies such as poker, boating, fishing, traveling, and playing softball with his team, Bustin Loose. These passions brought him immense joy and connected him with friends who became family. Kirk's legacy is carried forward by his daughter Kristen, her godmother Adrian Richardson, god sister Beverly, bonus daughter Nicole (Eric), and bonus granddaughter Lauren. He is also survived by his brother Virgil (Helen), sisters Delores Williams, Doretha Simmons, and Deborah Roberts (Kelvin), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom will cherish his memory and strive to live by his example. A celebration of Kirk's life will be held on March 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Fountain Funeral Home, located at 418 S Cicero Ave. The family invites all who knew and loved Kirk to join them in honoring his remarkable life and legacy. In a heartfelt message, Ramona shares her love and gratitude for the time they spent together, promising to carry his memory in her heart until they meet again. Her words encapsulate the profound love and respect shared between them, a love that will continue to inspire those left behind. As we say farewell to Kirk, we do so with a deep sense of gratitude for the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the laughter he brought to our days. Until we meet again, dear Kirk, rest peacefully. You will forever remain in our hearts.
