In Loving Memory

Tyrone Powell Nelson
February 18, 1965 — September 20, 2026
It is with profound sadness and cherished memories that we announce the peaceful passing of Tyrone Powell Nelson, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend. Tyrone was born on February 18, 1965, in Plaquemine, Louisiana, and remained a proud resident of his birthplace throughout his life. He left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family.
Tyrone was the devoted son of the late Grace Nelson, whose nurturing spirit and love he carried forward throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Gaynell Newman, who was his steadfast partner and support. Tyrone's legacy lives on through his children, Darius Tyrone Wilson and Candace Wilson, who were the lights of his life. His sister, Veronica Nelson Banks, and his uncle, James Nelson, along with a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives, and countless friends, including his close friend Willie Gordon, will forever hold him in their hearts.
Tyrone was educated at Plaquemine High School, where he laid the foundation for a life filled with passion and service. He spent several years working at Church's Chicken, where his warm spirit and dedication made a lasting impression on both co-workers and customers alike. Tyrone's love for singing and lifting praises to God was a testament to his enduring faith, which he embraced from a young age. His artistic talent was a unique gift that he generously shared with others, often bringing joy and smiles to those fortunate enough to witness his creativity.
Known for his kind spirit and genuine love for others, Tyrone was a true family man. He cared deeply for his mother and extended that love to his entire family, always showing kindness and compassion to everyone he encountered. His joyful heart and unwavering faith were constants that brightened the lives of those around him.
A memorial service to celebrate Tyrone's life will be held on September 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Roscoe Mortuary, located at 58635 Meriam Street, Plaquemine, LA 70764. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the beautiful life Tyrone led.
