Tyrone Dewayne Johnson, a cherished son, brother, and friend, was born on December 23, 1985, at the Norfolk Naval Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. On the evening of September 2, 2026, Tyrone left this world doing what he loved most: driving his 18-wheeler, a symbol of his adventurous spirit and dedication to his career. Tyrone was the beloved son of Cheryl Lynn Johnson and the late Tyrone Dewayne Croxton. He was predeceased by his cherished grandparents, Mary Betty Johnson, Morse Lylton Johnson Sr., and Lorraine C. Reed, as well as his uncle, Eric Anthony Johnson Sr. He is survived by his devoted mother, Cheryl, sisters Tyra,Tyla and a close-knit family that includes his uncle Morse Jr., aunts Cemini, Garifalia, Tamiko, and Fiji, along with a host of cousins and his dear friends Kevias, Patrick, George, and Shaniqua, who all held a special place in his heart. A proud graduate of Ottewah High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tyrone served in the Army ROTC, embracing the values of discipline and camaraderie. For 13 years, he skillfully navigated the roads as a truck driver for C.R. England, earning the prestigious Million Miles Reward Certificate, a testament to his commitment and excellence. Tyrone's passions extended beyond the open road. A loyal San Francisco 49ers fan from childhood, he celebrated life with his favorite drink, Crown Royal, and a trusty hand towel on his travels. His love for good food and grilling on his charcoal grill brought joy to those around him. Tyrone had a zest for life that took him across the USA, delighting in vacations, especially to Las Vegas, and attending NBA and NFL games with enthusiasm. Known for his quick wit and unwavering kindness, Tyrone stood by his friends and family, offering support and warmth. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire love and laughter. A service to honor Tyrone's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Shivers Funeral Chapel, located at 12749 Courthouse Hwy, Smithfield, VA 23430. Family and friends are invited to join in celebrating a life well-lived. The family offers a heartfelt message of gratitude: "I would like to thank my family and very close friends who supported me during my time of grieving and greatly assisted me in preparing my son, Tyrone, for his final good-bye."
