Troy William Burton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, in Anderson, South Carolina. Born on May 11, 1943, in Elberton, Georgia, Troy was the cherished son of the late Troy Burton and Lizzie Bea Fruster Burton. Troy was a man who lived his life with laughter and kindness, finding joy in the simple pleasures of motorcycle riding and the tranquility of fishing. His sense of humor and love for making others laugh was a hallmark of his personality, leaving those around him with warm memories and smiles. Troy dedicated many years of his professional life as a skilled welder and a bus driver, roles in which he took great pride and through which he touched many lives. His commitment to hard work and excellence was recognized by all who knew him. He was a proud member of the Freemasons, an organization that reflects his values of integrity and brotherhood. His life was a testament to these values, and he carried them with grace and dignity. Troy is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Barbara Goldsmith Burton, who stood by his side through life's journey. He was a devoted father to Benjamin Holland, Tawanna Burton, Novellia Burton, and Cassandra Gant, and a cherished grandfather to Bendrial Holland, Dana Baker, Chyna Baker, Lakaya Gant, Shay Colbert, Candice Poole, Jia’Darius Poe, and Andria Baker. His legacy continues through his 18 great-grandchildren, who will grow up hearing stories of their great-grandfather's humor and zest for life. He leaves behind his siblings, Jo Blackwell, Wonda Alexander, Gloria Burton, Harriet Starks, Tammy (Jimmy) Harris, Nadine Burton, and brothers Gary Burton and Robert Burton, who will forever hold him in their hearts. He is predeceased by his brothers, Kenneth and Terry Burton. Troy’s family finds comfort in their faith, echoing the words of Psalm 23, which held special meaning to Troy: "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want...Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
