In Loving Memory

Troy Oestricher
December 14, 1965 — April 3, 2026
It is with both heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Troy Oestricher, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Troy departed this world on April 3, 2026, at the age of 60, after a courageous battle with an illness. He was born on December 14, 1965, in the vibrant city of New York, where he began a life filled with laughter, love, and an indomitable spirit.
Troy was the cherished son of the late Ruben Bernard Oestricher and Bertha Lee Oestricher, both of whom instilled in him values of hard work, compassion, and resilience. He now joins them in eternal rest, along with his older brother, Marvin Oestricher, who predeceased him.
A devoted family man, Troy leaves behind a legacy of love through his surviving family members. His spirit lives on in his daughter, Tyesha Fornwald, and her fiancé, Tirrell Holmes; his sons, Neil Santiago and Troy Oestricher Jr.; and his beloved grandsons, Jaylin Santiago and Daylin Choung. He also leaves his only sister, Beverly Whitfield, and her husband, Drew Whitfield. Troy's legacy extends to his seven nieces and nephews: Michael Oestricher, Marvin Oestricher and his wife, Vanessa Oestricher, Capri Oestricher, Amber Berry and her fiancé, Jermaine Pryor, Amanda Berry, Drew Whitfield, and Ronald Anderson, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews who will continue to carry his essence forward.
While Troy never married, he was known for his charm and reputation as a ladies' man—an attribute that brought laughter and light into the lives of many. His unwavering loyalty and companionship were perhaps best exemplified by his lifelong friendship with Ricky Tiller, a bond that was akin to brotherhood.
Troy was a product of the New York City public school system and followed in his father's footsteps as a skilled carpenter and handyman. His craftsmanship was not just a career but a testament to his dedication and work ethic, touching the lives of those who had the pleasure of working with him.
Known for his sharp wit and infectious smile, Troy was a man of many talents and interests. He loved to have fun, enjoy a good drink, and engage in a lively card game. His humor was legendary, capable of bringing both laughter and tears, and he was always ready to stand his ground when needed. Above all, Troy was devoted to his family, cherishing every moment spent with them. He was a steadfast presence, always there to lend a hand and support those he loved.
Troy found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like watching MeTV, where he relished his favorite shows, "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke." These moments of relaxation captured his love for nostalgia and storytelling.
A celebration of Troy's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at his home located at 138 E Loudon St, Philadelphia, PA 19120. As we gather to honor his memory, we are reminded of a special message from Troy himself: "Troy would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus, a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time."
In remembering Troy, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and resilience. His spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Troy. Your legacy of love and laughter endures.
