In Loving Memory
Troy Oestricher
December 14, 1965 — April 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Troy Oestricher, who departed this world on April 3, 2026, at the age of 60. Troy left us after a courageous battle with an illness, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and resilience that will forever echo in the lives he touched.
Born on December 14, 1965, in the bustling city of New York, Troy was the cherished son of the late Ruben Bernard and Bertha Lee Oestricher. He was welcomed into this world with open arms and grew up alongside his beloved older brother, Marvin, who has also since passed. While Troy has now joined them, he continues to live on in the hearts of those who remain.
Troy received his education through the New York City public school system, and like his father, he chose the path of a carpenter. He was a master of his craft, known as much for his skilled hands as for the warmth and humor he brought to every job. His work as a handyman was more than a profession; it was a testament to his dedication to building and maintaining not just structures, but the relationships that he valued so deeply.
Troy was a man of many talents and interests. Known for his sharp wit and infectious smile, he had an unparalleled ability to light up any room. He loved to have fun, whether it was enjoying a drink, playing cards, or making people laugh. His evenings were often spent in the company of family, watching his favorite shows on MeTV, particularly "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke." Yet, amidst all the joy and laughter, Troy was a pillar of strength and reliability. His love for his family was immense; he cherished them above all and was always there to lend a helping hand, no matter the circumstances.
Though not married, Troy was affectionately known as a ladies' man, leaving a trail of friendships and fond memories. He is survived by his loving children: his daughter, Tyesha Fornwald (fiancé Tirrell Holmes), and his sons, Neil Santiago and Troy Oestricher Jr. His legacy continues through his grandsons, Jaylin Santiago and Daylin Choung, who were the light of his life. Troy also leaves behind his dear sister, Beverly Winfield, and brother-in-law, Drew Winfield, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will carry forward his spirit of joy.
Troy will be dearly missed by his best friend and brother in spirit, Ricky Tiller, whose companionship was a source of strength and laughter throughout his life.
A service to honor Troy's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at his home, located at 138 E Loudon St, Philadelphia, PA 19120. We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating a life lived with joy, humor, and unyielding love.
In closing, Troy would like to let you know that his work here is done. He received a call, a sort of offer you can't refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on bonus: a reunion with family and friends he has not seen in a long time. As we say goodbye, we hold onto the love and laughter he shared with us, knowing that he is now at peace and in great company.
Rest in peace, dear Troy. Your legacy of love and laughter will forever be cherished.
