Trish Mae Burnett

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Trish Mae Burnett, who left this world on July 1, 2026, after facing a brave two-year battle with breast cancer. Born on October 15, 1953, in Bunnell, Florida, Trish was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. Trish was the cherished daughter of the late Joycie Mae and Ernest Burnett, and she was reunited in eternal rest with her parents, her sister Eloise, and her brothers Willie, Edward, and Samuel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Rupert Burnett, who passed in 2020. Trish leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her devoted daughter Patricia (Vincent) Lockley, and her granddaughters Maitoki (Chris) Thomas and Caroline (Carl) Walters. She was affectionately known as "Memaw" to her seven great-grandchildren: Tkeyah (Curt) Boyd and their four children, Clyde Miller, Dana Tatum, Antoniah Willis, Messiah Willis, Alphonso Tatum Jr., and Michal Frazier. Trish's family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Trish found fulfillment in her role as a paraprofessional at Perry Primary, where she nurtured a love for learning among countless children. Her passion for education and her nurturing spirit left a lasting impact on those she taught. After retiring, she moved to California to be closer to her great-grandchildren, ensuring her legacy of love continued through the generations. Trish was renowned for her culinary talents, her skill with a needle and thread, and her love of literature, which she passed on to her granddaughters. Her home was a place of warmth and welcome, and she had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel cherished. Her laughter was infectious, her generosity boundless, and her spirit unforgettably radiant. In her final days, Trish was surrounded by the love of family and friends, even from afar. The kindness and care provided by her hospice team were a testament to the profound impact she had on those around her. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the hospice staff who cared for her with such compassion. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Trish's remarkable life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society's Breast Cancer Fund. Trish Mae Burnett's life was a testament to love, resilience, and grace. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
