West Hills California—With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Tressa May Held Winters Coss on May 24, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on February 9, 1943, in Windsor, Colorado, Tressa was a beacon of resilience and grace whose life was marked by unwavering love, dedication, and an enduring legacy of kindness.
Tressa entered this world as the cherished daughter of Robert Held and Viola Frances Walters Held. Her father, Robert, passed away when she was just a year old, and her mother later found love again with Palmer (Paul) T. Winters, who adopted Tressa at the tender age of five. This new union brought stability and love to Tressa's early years, shaping her into the compassionate and resilient woman we all came to admire.
A bright student, Tressa graduated from Westminster High School in 1961, where she was a proud member of the National Honor Society during her senior year. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Regis College, where she majored in Business—a testament to her ambition and intellect. Tressa's career at Neo-Data was characterized by her dedication and skill, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the industry.
Tressa loved bird watching and went on several trips all over the United States and she traveled to China and Antarctica.
On June 12, Tressa married the love of her life, Jacob (Jack) Coss. Their union was a testament to partnership and devotion, weathering life's storms with grace and love. Together, they nurtured a family that would become Tressa's greatest joy and legacy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack, whose memory she cherished every day.
Tressa was a devoted mother to her children, her son Randen Lee Beightol passed away Sept 19, 2023, Terry Ahlbrandt (Mike) and Steven Coss (River), and a loving grandmother to Courtney (Chris) Townley, Brittney, Jordan (Maria) Ahlbrandt, Madison, Olivia Coss, Samuel Coss, and Maya Coss. Her heart overflowed with pride and love for her great-grandchildren Peyton, Hailey Townley, Grace Townley, and Carly Townley, Shiloh Ahlbrandt, Posy Ahlbrandt, and Laurelei Ahlbrandt, each of whom brought boundless joy into her life. Three other great grandchildren.
Her family extended beyond her immediate descendants. Tressa is survived by her dear sisters, Karen Mumma (David) and Jody Amsberry, nieces Crystal Meyer and Amber Martin, nephews Craig Martin (Charmaine) and Grant Amsberry, and great-nieces Emerald Meyer and Kiley Meyer, and Sophia Martin. She also leaves behind great-great-nephews Trenton Ohanesian and Wyatt Meyer, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She had niece Rebecca Curtis (Kevin) and nephews David J Mumma II and Mark W. Mumma (Rita) and Great nephews Mitchell Mumma (Renee) and Zach Mumma (Bethany) and Kyle Curtis (Olivia) and Matt Curtis (Victoria) Holt Curtis (Zoe) and Logan Curtis and David Christian Mumma and Ethan Mumma and Victoria Mumma and Zoe Mumma and Barnabas Mumma and Aurora Cooper and Great great Nephews Luca Mumma, Tatum Mumma, Ezra Curtis, Colter Curtis, Aldrich Riftin Curtis, and Great great nieces MacKenzie Curtis, and Knoxley Curtis and Noli Curtis
Tressa was predeceased by her parents, Robert Held, Viola F. Walters Winters, and Palmer (Paul) T. Winters, her husband Jack Coss, and her son Randen Lee Beightol, whose spirit she carried with her always.
Throughout her life, Tressa embodied resilience, compassion, and grace. Her warmth and kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.
A celebration of Tressa's life will be held at a later date, where those who loved her will gather to honor her remarkable journey and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Tressa's name, continuing her lifelong commitment to helping others.
