In Loving Memory

Trenton Duke Fentress
September 6, 1958 — September 2, 2026
In loving memory of Trenton Duke Fentress of Stoneville, North Carolina, who passed away on September 2, 2026, just shy of his 68th birthday. Born on September 6, 1958, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Trenton, or "Trent" to his many friends, lived a life full of kindness, generosity, and adventure.
Trent was the beloved son of the late Donald Irving Fentress and Sara Josephine Dula. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Brooke Best Fentress and Tracy Dula Fentress. Despite these losses, Trent's heart remained open and loving, finding solace and joy in the company of his surviving family members, Erinn Fentress Henning and Gail Fentress of Virginia Beach, VA, Duke and Brenda Fentress of Raleigh, NC, his cousins, Brandon Fentress, John Fentress, Zachary Fentress, and Barrie Fentress Tracy, as well as his close friends who became his extended family.
Trent spent many years navigating the roads as a dedicated truck driver, a career from which he eventually retired. Yet, his love for the open road and new horizons was ever-present in his passion for paddling. An avid paddler, Trent found peace and contentment on the water, where he could reflect and enjoy nature's beauty. He also enjoyed mentoring new paddlers to spread the joy of the river.
Known for his affection for collecting, Trent was a lover of things, each item a testament to his appreciation for life's small treasures. His collections were not just objects, but stories and memories shared with those he loved.
Trent's greatest legacy, however, lies in his personal qualities. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. His positive attitude was infectious, bringing light and laughter to every room he entered. A thoughtful, giving friend, Trent never hesitated to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Trent's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Trent's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and love for helping others.
Trenton Duke Fentress will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, forever paddling through the serene waters he so loved.
