Trent Alan Lane

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Trent Alan Lane, a beloved soul who touched the lives of many. Trent departed this world peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by his loving family, on July 24, 2026. He was born on October 25, 1963, in Canton, Illinois. Trent was the cherished son of Jerry Lane and Delores Shaner, and he is predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Delores Mast, his father Jerry, his brothers Damion Lane, Mark Shaner, and Gregory Mast, as well as his two nephews and grandparents Beverly and Berwin Lane. Despite the losses in his life, Trent was a beacon of light and laughter, always wearing his heart on his sleeve and placing the needs of others above his own. Surviving Trent is his beloved fiancée, Letitia Emery. Together they shared a beautiful journey, having been each other's first loves before reuniting in 2016. Their decade-long partnership was filled with love and mutual respect. Trent was a devoted father to his daughter, Amanda Quick, and a proud grandfather to six delightful grandchildren: Leighton, Hayden, and Graycen Barnard, and Josie, Ellie, and Parker Kincaid. His extended family includes his brother Kevin (Candy) Mast of Quincy, IL, and his siblings Jeffrey (Dawn) Mast of Rockwood, TN, Constance Patre of Palmyra, MO, Tina (Kenneth) Taylor of Peoria Heights, IL, Tania (Eddie Miller) Mast of Mossville, IL, Kimberly (Dennis) Pratt of Payson, IL, Heather (James) Gallagher of Quincy, IL, and Cynthia (Robert) Walker of Quincy, IL. Trent also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a circle of friends who cherished him deeply. Trent's academic journey led him to graduate from Quincy Senior High School in 1982 and later from John Wood Community College in 1998, earning his LPN credentials. He dedicated his professional career to caring for others as an LPN at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL, where he worked from 1998 until 2014. His compassion and dedication to his patients were a testament to his character and commitment to service. A man of faith, Trent was a devoted Catholic. He had a rich tapestry of interests that painted a picture of a life well-lived. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of golf, watching movies, diving into history, and collecting hats and watches. Above all, Trent treasured the moments he spent with family and friends, his laughter echoing through gatherings and his humor bringing joy to those around him. Trent leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and humor. He was known for his infectious laughter, his love for his mother's chocolate chip cookies, and his ability to make everyone feel valued and appreciated. In his final words, he expressed his love for everyone, a testament to the generosity of his spirit. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of Trent's friends and loved ones for their support and companionship throughout his life. They fondly remember his adventures with his best friend Byron on the pontoon boat, moments that brought him immense joy. In honor of Trent’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Trent’s lifelong commitment to caring for others. Trent Alan Lane will forever be remembered for his big heart and unwavering love for those around him. His memory will continue to live on in the laughter and smiles of those who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by all.
