Treasa Parker Dawson

It is with profound sadness and gentle gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Treasa Parker Dawson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend. Treasa left this world peacefully on April 1,2026 at Duke Hock Family Pavilion surrounded by the love of her family. She was 90 years old.
Treasa Gay Parker Dawson born on June 24, 1935, to the late William S.and Elma Vanhook Parker. Treasa's life was a testament to resilience, dedication, and love. Treasa was a proud product of the Durham County Public School System and Durham Technical Community College.Her education laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and steadfast commitment to her family and community. Treasa became a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at an early age where she was a member of different organizations including the senior choir and missionary board until her health declined but she still made a way to Mt Calvary even if she had to watch on zoom.
Treasa's professional life was primarily spent at Duke University Hospital, where she devoted over 20 years working in dietary.Her work ethic and commitment to her role were exemplary, and she retired from the hospital having made many friends and touched countless lives. Her colleagues remember her not only for her diligence but also for the warmth and kindness she shared with everyone she encountered.
Treasa preceded in death by her husband Junious E Dawson of 53 years and one sister Costella P. Harris.
Treasa was blessed with a large and loving family.
She was married to her late husband, Junious Edward Dawson, with whom she shared 53 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they raised seven children: Elvin Ray Dawson Sr. (Tonya), Phillip Dawson (Erica), Pamela Eubanks, all of Durham NC Reginald Dawson(Brian Whitfield), of Roanoke VA, Junious A. Dawson, Wanda Winstead (James), and Gregory Dawson all of Durham NC. Her legacy includes 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren all of whom she adored and inspired with her strength and gentle nature. She also leaves behind one brother William S. Parker (Lugenia) of Bahama NC and one sister Reba P. Hayes of Durham NC. One God Son Samuel Williams of Fayetteville NC and a host of other family and friends.
Treasa had a zest for life that was contagious. She loved to play bingo and visit the sweepstakes, always hopeful for a little extra luck. These hobbies were more than games to her; they were opportunities to share laughs and create memories with friends and family.
Her life was marked by a profound generosity and a willingness to help others. Treasa's kindness knew no bounds, and she will be remembered for the many lives she touched with her compassion and grace. Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and unwavering support—a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A service to celebrate Treasa's life will be held on April 11 2026.A viewing will be held from 12pm-1pm and Service will be at 1pm at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 8021 Stagville Rd, Bahama, NC 27503.
Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Treasa are invited to join in honoring her remarkable journey.

Treasa Parker Dawson was a beacon of love and kindness, and while she will be dearly missed, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
