Travis R. Smith

November 27, 1965 — April 14, 2026

Travis R. Smith, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2026, at the age of 60. Born on November 27, 1965, in the close-knit community of Marshalltown, Iowa, Travis was the beloved son of Virginia R. Smith and Robert P. Smith, both of whom preceded him in death. Travis's life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and an unyielding spirit. Growing up in Marshalltown, Travis was known for his inquisitive nature and an ever-present smile that could light up any room. He carried these traits into his professional life, dedicating over three decades to Engineering Spring Products. Starting as a coiler, Travis's dedication and skill saw him rise to the position of shop foreman, a role he shared with his brother Troy Smith. Together, under the guidance of their late father Robert, they crafted a legacy of hard work and camaraderie that inspired all who had the privilege of working alongside them. Travis's life was not defined solely by his career but by his love for life and the people around him. A true water enthusiast, one could often find Travis at Lake Livingston, a place that held his heart. There, he found joy in taking his boat out on the water, inviting friends and family for rides that were as much about the journey as the destination. His laughter echoed across the waves, creating memories that will be cherished forever. Music was another passion that Travis shared with those he loved. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively gathering with friends, music was a constant companion that brought him immense joy. Travis had a knack for fixing things, a skill matched only by his keen understanding of computers. He was the go-to person for anyone facing a technological challenge, always ready with an answer and a helping hand. Travis is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Smith, and his beloved daughter, Anna Smith, who were his greatest sources of pride and happiness. He also leaves behind his sister, Traci Cordes, and her husband, Ray Cordes, along with his brother Troy Smith. His legacy continues through his many nieces and nephews, who will remember him as the loving and supportive uncle who always had a word of wisdom or a joke to share. In honoring Travis's memory, we remember a man who lived life fully and loved deeply. His generosity of spirit, his laughter, and his unwavering support will be dearly missed. Though he has left this world, the love Travis shared and the memories he created will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. A celebration of Travis's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, music, and the warmth that Travis so freely gave to all. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Travis’s name to a charity of one’s choice, as a tribute to his giving nature. Rest in peace, Travis R. Smith. You have left an indelible mark on this world, and your spirit will continue to guide us as we carry your memory forward.
