Tracy Long, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2026, due to acute respiratory distress. Born on October 11, 1961, in Queens, NY, Tracy's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication to those around him. A proud graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, Tracy's early years were marked by a strong sense of duty and service, which led him to serve honorably in the US Navy. His commitment to his country was paralleled by his dedication to his community, where he made a lasting impact through his varied careers as a coach, barber, and fitness trainer. Tracy had an innate ability to connect with people, and his work was a testament to his passion for helping others achieve their best. Tracy was a man who lived life to the fullest, with a deep love for sports, particularly his cherished NY Knicks. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he made every game a memorable event. Beyond sports, Tracy's love for animals was evident to all who knew him. His home was a sanctuary for his beloved dog, Coach, several cats, a dragon, and a bunny, each of whom he adored and cared for with great affection. Tracy's vibrant personality was matched only by his sense of humor and his ability to light up any room with his presence. Those who knew him cherished his warmth and wit, and he leaves behind a legacy of laughter and love. Tracy is survived by his loving daughter, Takisha, and his cherished grandson, Amare, who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Gladys, his sister Stacey, and brother-in-law Jonathan. His family extends to his nieces, Jasmine and her husband Marquis, and Jordan, as well as his nephew, Justin. Tracy's longtime girlfriend, Stephanie Owens, was a constant source of love and support in his life. He also leaves behind a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly. Tracy was predeceased by his father, Theodore Long, whose memory he held close to his heart. A memorial service to celebrate Tracy's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at Plain Lawn Cemetery, located at 279 West Old Country Road, Hicksville, NY 11801. In the spirit of Tracy's joyful life, his family wishes to focus not on mourning his passing but on celebrating a life well lived. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tracy's memory to a charity of your choice.
