Tracey Lamont Townsend

October 12, 1974 — May 22, 2026

In loving memory of Tracey Lamont Townsend, who peacefully departed this life on May 22, 2026, at the age of 51. Tracey was born on October 12, 1974, in the welcoming town of Athens, Alabama, to his proud parents, Carolyn Townsend and Sonny Caldwell. Tracey was a man of steadfast dedication, both to his family and his country. His commitment to service began early as he bravely enlisted in the United States Army. Throughout his military service, Tracey showcased a profound sense of duty and courage, qualities that remained with him throughout his life. After serving his country, Tracey embarked on a career as a concrete worker, where he was known not just for his skill and hard work but for the camaraderie and kindness he shared with his colleagues. His hands, which shaped the foundations of many structures, were the same hands that tenderly held the hands of his beloved children and grandchildren, guiding them through life with love and wisdom. Tracey was a cherished member of the community and a devout member of David's Temple Baptist Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, offering him strength and solace. He was a beacon of hope and inspiration to those around him, embodying the principles of compassion and generosity. Tracey was preceded in death by his parents, Carolyn Townsend and Sonny Caldwell, and his sister, Margaret Townsend. Their memories lived on in Tracey, who carried forward their legacy of kindness and integrity. He leaves behind a loving family who will dearly miss him: his cherished children Alyssa Jones, Tracee "Shae" Townsend, Haven Townsend, and Mazee Townsend. Tracey was also a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, whose lives were enriched by his stories, laughter, and guiding presence. Tracey’s life was a testament to the power of love and perseverance. His legacy of kindness, service, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. A service to celebrate Tracey's life will be held at David's Temple Baptist Church, where family and friends will gather to honor a life lived with grace and purpose. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Tracey’s memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and compassion for others. As we bid farewell to Tracey, we hold his memory close, comforted by the knowledge that his spirit will forever be a part of our lives—a gentle reminder to live with courage, love deeply, and serve wholeheartedly.
