It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tonya Byers, who departed this life on April 26, 2026, after courageously battling an illness. Born on July 18, 1977, in Memphis, TN, Tonya's vibrant presence enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was a beacon of light and laughter, always ready with a kind word or a joke to lift the spirits of those around her. Tonya was the cherished daughter of Leonard and the late Mary Jean Mitchell, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms in the hereafter. She leaves behind her father, Leonard, and her devoted siblings Leonard Mitchell, Barbara Ann Mitchell-Robertson, Andre Mitchell, and Andrea Krause, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. For over two decades, Tonya dedicated herself to her career at Kimberly-Clark as an input manager, where her professionalism and dedication were a testament to her work ethic and commitment. Her colleagues remember her not only for her expertise but also for her warm smile and infectious humor that made every day brighter. Tonya was an active and cherished member of Gilfield Baptist Church in Millington, TN. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her strength and comfort that she shared with everyone around her. Her church community remembers her for her unwavering kindness and her ability to make others feel valued and loved. Beyond her professional and community contributions, Tonya was a devoted family member and a lover of the great outdoors. She found immense joy in spending time with her family and cherished every moment spent in nature's embrace. Her family was her world, and she was their anchor, always level-headed and ready to support them in any circumstance. Tonya's legacy is one of love, laughter, and service to others. Her caring nature and genuine spirit made her a friend and confidante to many, and her absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit and the memories we shared with her remain eternally cherished. A celebration of Tonya's life will be held on May 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Funeral Home, located at 7788 Church Street, Millington, TN 38053. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life she led, sharing stories and remembering the joy she brought into our lives.
