Born in Toledo, Ohio, on June 26, 1958, Tony was a beacon of creativity and warmth, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who had the privilege to know him. Tony was the cherished son of Phyllis and the late Archie Nelson. His childhood was filled with the love and guidance of his dear family, including his late brother Charles, grandmother Annie V. Chapman, and stepfather Sellous Tillery, who preceded him in death. Tony's artistic journey began at a young age, nurtured by his family's encouragement and support. His remarkable ability to bring any picture to life with his drawings became a signature trait, leaving a lasting impression on those around him. Throughout his life, Tony's passion for art never waned. His creativity was boundless, and he found joy in sharing his talent with others, often gifting loved ones with beautifully crafted pieces that captured the essence of life's simple and profound moments. His artistic legacy will continue to inspire and be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to experience his work. Tony's kind heart and nurturing spirit extended beyond his family. He was a loving father figure to Tashawna, whom he considered his daughter, and a proud grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren, Maci, Jasper, and Samiyah. They were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, filling their lives with laughter, love, and stories that will echo through generations. He leaves behind a devoted mother, Phyllis Tillery, and his loving siblings: Michael, Kevin, James, Sean, Elizabeth "Ann," and Gina. The bonds he shared with his family were unbreakable, and their memories of him will forever be a source of comfort and strength. His nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and dear friends will also carry his memory close to their hearts. A service to celebrate Tony's life will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM in The Elizabeth Chapel at McDougald Funeral Services, located at 3612 E. 116th Cleveland, Ohio 44105. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Tony are warmly invited to attend. In this time of sorrow, Tony's family expresses their deepest gratitude for the many comforting messages, visits, thoughts, and prayers received.
