Tommy Wade Barnett
March 28, 1954 — May 22, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tommy Wade Barnett, a beloved partner, brother, uncle, and friend. Tommy left this world peacefully at his residence on May 22, 2026, at the age of 72. Born on March 28, 1954, in Baltimore, Maryland, Tommy was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of everyone he met with his warmth, kindness, and zest for life.
Tommy was the cherished son of the late Joseph B. Barnett Jr. and Mary Louise Hampton Barnett. He grew up in a lively household, filled with the love of his siblings and the values imparted by his parents. He was predeceased by his brother, Doug Barnett, and his sister, Sherrie Barnett Petree, whom he held close to his heart throughout his life.
Tommy's memory will be lovingly cherished by his devoted partner, Nicole Wright, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He is also survived by his siblings, Sheila Godfrey and her husband Jon, Brenda Manous and her husband Perry, Karyn Arnold and her husband Lee, and Shane Barnett, all of whom shared countless memories and laughter with Tommy. His legacy continues through a host of nieces and nephews, who adored their Uncle Tommy and the joy he brought to family gatherings.
Professionally, Tommy dedicated many years of his life to Ratliff Roofing Company in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was not only admired for his hard work and dedication but also for his uplifting spirit and camaraderie with colleagues. His work ethic left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Outside of work, Tommy's passions were as dynamic as his personality. He found great joy in riding his Harley motorcycle, feeling the freedom of the open road, and the wind on his face. His love for adventure was matched by his affinity for working on old Volkswagens, where he spent countless hours restoring these classic cars, a testament to his meticulous nature and love for craftsmanship.
Tommy's life was enriched by the deep and lasting friendships he cultivated over the years. He was blessed with a wide circle of close friends who felt more like family, each sharing in his laughter, his stories, and his unwavering generosity.
Although Tommy did not have grandchildren or great-grandchildren, his legacy is carried on by the many lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on their hearts. His spirit will continue to ride the roads of our memories, steering us toward kindness, adventure, and love.
As we say goodbye, we remember Tommy Wade Barnett with fondness and gratitude for the time we had with him. His life was a journey filled with love, laughter, and the open road—a journey that will not be forgotten.
A celebration of Tommy's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the man who brought so much love and happiness into their lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tommy's memory to a charity of your choice, keeping his spirit of giving alive.
Ride on, dear Tommy, into the horizon where the road meets the sky. You will forever be in our hearts.
