In Loving Memory

Tommie Edward Moore
July 20, 1943 — June 6, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Tommie Edward Moore, who departed this life on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 82. Tommie passed peacefully at Meadheaven Nursing Home, in the comforting embrace of those who cherished him dearly.
Born on July 20, 1943, in the tranquil community of Dixon's Mills, Alabama, Tommie was the beloved son of Robert B. and Ella Moore. From a young age, he was imbued with the values of faith, family, and community, which would guide him throughout his life. He confessed Christ at an early age, and his spiritual journey began when he joined the Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, where he remained a devoted member.
Tommie was known far and wide as a "dancing machine." His love for dance was infectious, and he had an unrivaled ability to light up any room with his spirited moves. If you knew Tommie, you knew his love for dancing was a reflection of his zest for life. No one could dance quite like him, and his ability to "get low" became legendary among family and friends.
He leaves behind a large and loving family to cherish his memory. He is survived by nine siblings: Robert B. (Charlotte) Moore, Jr. of Hampton, VA; Russell Howard (Alice) Moore; Chester (Elnora) Moore; Daniel Lee (Rosa) Moore; Nathan Don Moore; Joseph Earl Moore, all of Dixon's Mills, AL; Sarah Lou (Bennie) Hinton of Marion, AL; Carolyn Fuqua of St. Louis, MO; and Marolyn Moore Grant of Dixon's Mills, AL. He is also remembered by two adopted brothers, Willis Jowers (Maggie) Grayson of Houston, TX, and Honoree (Jacquline) Lockett Jr. of Demopolis, AL. Tommie was a beloved uncle to 40 nieces and nephews and a cherished great-uncle to 88 great nieces and nephews. His legacy of love and laughter extends to a host of other relatives and dear friends.
A celebration of Tommie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Church, located at 2155 Marengo County 82, Dixon's Mills, Alabama. It is here that family and friends will gather to honor a life well-lived and a soul that touched countless hearts.
The Moore family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude for the acts of kindness and support shown during Tommie’s illness and passing. Special thanks are given to the compassionate staff at Meadheaven Nursing Home and Bryant Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis, Alabama. Whether you sent a flower, a card, offered a prayer, or extended a gesture of love, please know your kindness has brought comfort and peace to the family during this difficult time. May God bless each and every one of you.
As we bid farewell to Tommie, let us carry forward his passion for life and his boundless spirit. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever dance in our hearts.
