It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tomeithea Carter, a remarkable woman who brought warmth, love, and kindness to everyone she met. Born on July 3, 1969, in the vibrant city of Chicago, IL, Tomeithea was a beacon of light to her family and community. She left us on August 29, 2026, after a courageous battle during an emergency room and ICU visit. Her strength and resilience in the face of adversity were a testament to her indomitable spirit. Tomeithea was the cherished daughter of Thomas Francis and Mary Carter. She is survived by her devoted mother, Mary, and her beloved siblings, Keath and Eunita Carter. Her life was enriched by her life partner of 20 years, Andre Wells, with whom she shared many adventures and a loving home in Calumet, IL. A proud alumna of Farragut High School and Jones Commercial High School, Tomeithea excelled academically and earned numerous achievements. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a fulfilling career in child care, where she specialized in early development through kindergarten. Tomeithea found solace and joy in the bonds she formed with the children she cared for, leaving an indelible mark on their lives. Family was at the heart of everything Tomeithea did. She was the proud and loving mother of three sons, Martavious, Julius, and Maxwell Williams, and the adoring grandmother to her two grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Tomeithea had a passion for cooking and delighted in exploring new recipes, often sharing her culinary creations with loved ones. Her kitchen was a place of gathering, filled with laughter and the aroma of her delectable dishes. Known for her kind, shy demeanor and fiery spirit, Tomeithea's silence spoke volumes, and her presence was as graceful as it was profound. Tomeithea's passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends, who remember her with love and admiration. She was preceded in death by numerous family members who now welcome her with open arms. A service to honor and celebrate the life of Tomeithea Carter will be held on September 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Gardeners Funeral Home, located at 2533 W. 71st Street. The family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory. In a special message from her family, they express the shock of Tomeithea's (affectionately known as Daphne) passing and urge all to prioritize their mental and physical health as a way to honor her legacy. They find solace in the words of Psalms 34:18: "The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, and saveth such as are of a contrite spirit," and Romans 8:38-39: "For I'm convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor future, nor any powers, neither height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Tomeithea Carter's life was a testament to the power of love, kindness, and perseverance. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
