It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tom Sullivan Roberson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Tom peacefully departed this world on April 8, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories. Born on September 8, 1944, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, Tom was the cherished son of Elmer and Dezene (Presgrove) Roberson. Growing up in a warm and loving family, Tom was predeceased by his parents, his siblings Michael and Judy, and his infant son, Whitney Sullivan. His remarkable life was a testament to perseverance, commitment, and an unyielding zest for life. Tom shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Stephanie Kochy Roberson, whom he wed on August 27, 1967. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, nurturing a family that was the center of Tom’s world. He is survived by his two loving daughters, Meredith Larson and her husband Brian, and Lauren Cangemi and her husband Peter. His legacy continues through his five cherished grandchildren: Sophie, Whitney, Madison, Evelyn, and Jackson, who were the apple of his eye and the joy of his later years. Tom's educational journey began at Dyersburg High School and continued to the University of Tennessee, where he earned his bachelor's degree in business. His time at university was marked not only by academic achievement but also by meaningful friendships and lasting connections as a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity and the Business Club. His exceptional intellect and remarkable memory were well noted by all who knew him. Service to his country was important to Tom, and he did so with pride as a member of the Tennessee Air National Guard. His commitment to civic duty extended beyond military service, as he served as a Congressional Page in Washington, DC, for Congressman Fats Everett, an experience that broadened his perspective and deepened his commitment to public service. Tom's professional life was complemented by his passion for living fully. He was an avid golfer, a traveler with a curious spirit, and a culinary enthusiast who relished discovering new restaurants and perfecting his own cooking skills. His love for life was infectious, inspiring those around him to embrace each moment with joy and gratitude. In addition to his immediate family, Tom is survived by his brother, Jerry Roberson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will always remember him for his warmth, generosity, and unfailing support. Tom's passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those he leaves behind. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor and celebrate Tom's life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Tom’s memory, reflecting his compassionate spirit and commitment to helping others. As we bid farewell to Tom, let us remember him not with sorrow, but with gratitude for the beautiful life he lived and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
