Tina Bell O'Shaughnessy

October 25, 1956 — May 8, 2026

Tina Bell O'Shaughnessy, a cherished soul whose gentle spirit touched the lives of many, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with a rare form of breast cancer. Born on October 25, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio, Tina was the beloved daughter of Ralph and Lillian Blankenship, who predeceased her, along with her brothers Earl and William "Buddy," and sister Bonnie. Tina's early years were spent in Marblehead, where she developed a profound love for the lake. An avid enthusiast of boating, waterskiing, and fishing, Tina's connection to the water was as deep as her love for those around her. Her passion for riding horses began at a young age and continued as a lifelong joy, a testament to her adventurous spirit and enduring love for animals, who were drawn to her kind and generous nature. A proud graduate of Danbury High School in 1975 and the Sandusky School of Practical Nursing in 1982, Tina committed her life to caring for others. She dedicated over 30 years to serving at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky, where her work was not just a career but a calling. Tina’s dedication to honoring and serving veterans was a profound aspect of her life, and she continued to share her compassion as a part-time home health nurse after her retirement. Tina was formerly married to Thomas O'Shaughnessy of Sandusky for 20 years, with whom she shared three wonderful children: Roger "Lee" Garn, Katherine O'Shaughnessy (spouse Cory Reinle), and Ryan O'Shaughnessy. Her legacy of love continues through her adored grandchildren, Collin and Viola Reinle, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta "Trudy" Oliver, and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom remember her warmth and kindness. Her involvement in the Erie County 4-H and The American Paint Horse Association for over two decades showcased her commitment to community and her passion for nurturing both land and spirit. A devoted member of Faith Church in Sandusky, Tina's faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing her strength and solace. Tina was known as the most kind and generous person, whose gentle spirit endeared her to all who knew her. She was a beacon of love and warmth, and her family was the center of her universe. Her passing leaves an indelible void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit lives on in the memories and stories shared by her family and friends. A memorial service to celebrate Tina’s remarkable life will be held on May 21, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Toft's Funeral Home, located at 2001 Columbus Ave, Sandusky. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Cancer Services in Sandusky, Ohio, in Tina’s honor, to continue the fight against the illness she faced so bravely. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the oncology team at Cleveland Clinic, the staff and volunteers of Cancer Services, and the compassionate staff at Ames Family Hospice House for the extraordinary care and kindness they provided to Tina during her journey. Tina Bell O'Shaughnessy was a beacon of kindness and a gentle soul who will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
