Timothy Cornwell
May 25, 1953 — October 12, 2026
Timothy Cornwell, beloved husband, father, educator, and lifelong learner, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2026, due to complications of cancer. Born on May 25, 1953, in Marcellus, Michigan, Tim was the cherished son of Jean and Robert Cornwell.
Tim's journey in education began at Central Michigan University, where he not only earned his teaching degree but also met the love of his life, Marge. The two embarked on a remarkable 50-year adventure together, both in marriage and in their shared passion for teaching. They began their careers at the American Community School of Athens in Greece, before Tim pursued a Master's degree in educational psychology from Oklahoma University while teaching in Udaliyah. There, they started their family, which would grow to include their two daughters, Kasey and Jacqui. Tim continued his educational pursuits with doctoral studies at Wayne State University while residing in Lapeer, Michigan, where he and Marge lovingly raised their family.
Tim's career was marked by a steadfast dedication to public education. He contributed significantly to the Lakeville and Lake Fenton school communities and spent over two decades at Goodrich High School, where he shaped the lives of countless students and colleagues. Tim was not only an educator but also a mentor and coach, sharing his love for sports and life with all those around him.
A true athlete at heart, Tim played collegiate football and coached multiple sports throughout his life. His enthusiasm for physical activity extended beyond the field. He was an avid biker and kayaker, and he even ran when necessary. Tim had a deep appreciation for nature, the night sky, and the simple joys of life, such as cool rocks and cookies.
Tim was a lifelong learner, always eager to gain new knowledge and share it with others. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or exploring the great outdoors, his curiosity and passion for learning were infectious.
Tim is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Marge, and his beloved daughters, Kasey and Jacqui. His family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched will forever cherish his memory.
A celebration of Tim's life will take place on October 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Williams Park - Karen Miller Event Center, located at 10069 E Atherton Rd., Davison, Michigan. In honor of Tim's love for nature and cookies, guests are encouraged to dress for both indoor and outdoor socializing. Drinks and cookies will be available, and guests are welcome to bring a batch of their favorite cookies to share, as Tim never met a cookie he didn't like.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations be made to Michigan state parks, an organization dear to Tim's heart.
Timothy Cornwell's legacy of love, learning, and laughter will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed, but the impact of his life will endure in the hearts of those who carry his spirit forward.
