Thurman was born on April 17, 1944, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Wiley Thurman Lynn "Wally" and Ethel Rosa Lynn "Rose." He was 82 years old.
Thurman was a devoted father to his five children and leaves behind daughters Stacey of Houston, TX, Brett of Portland, OR, and Adreane of Allentown, PA. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Wally and Rose.
Thurman is remembered not only for his devotion to family but also for his exemplary service in the U.S. Marines. His dedication and valor during his military service were hallmarks of his character, underscoring a life committed to duty and honor.
Professionally, Thurman carved a niche as a celebrated photographer under the name Bob Freeman. His lens captured the glittering essence of Hollywood, where he served as the official event photographer for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. He was renowned for his work documenting the Hollywood Walk of Fame star induction ceremonies.
