Born on October 12, 1952, in Washington, D.C., Thomasina was the beloved daughter of the late Olan Thomas Gray and Arlener McManus Gray. Thomasina's life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and faith. A proud graduate of Roosevelt High School in 1970, she continued her pursuit of knowledge at Gibbs College, where she graduated with honors in 2001. Her remarkable career with the federal government began in the early 1970s at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. In 1988, she joined the National Science Foundation (NSF), where she worked with distinction until her retirement in 2019. Her tenure at NSF was marked by numerous accolades, and she established lasting relationships, both personally and professionally. Her dedication to her work took her to various conferences and institutions, including a fellowship in Santa Domingo and visits to Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Thomasina's faith was the cornerstone of her life. She accepted the Lord Jesus at the tender age of 10, guided by her grandmother's loving influence. Her spiritual journey was one of dedication and service, beginning at Harvey Memorial Baptist Church and later at Jericho City of Praise. In her later years, she found a spiritual home at Heavens Best Healing and Deliverance Church, Pastor Angelo O. Jones. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond her own spiritual growth; she was a mentor to many young people, teaching and guiding them with her wisdom and love. A passionate lover of gospel music, Thomasina cherished meeting and being inspired by artists such as The Canton Spirituals, John P. Kee, Rev. Shirley Caesar, and Hezekiah Walker. Her joy for music was matched by her dedication to her family. She traveled extensively to support her granddaughter Kamya's endeavors in talent and beauty pageants, modeling, and acting, always being a pillar of encouragement and love. Thomasina was predeceased by her parents, her brothers John Huff Sr., Edward Huff, and George Gray, her sister Eunice Gray, and her beloved niece and nephews Valencia Blue, John Huff Jr., and Edward Blue. Her legacy of love and service is carried on by her son, Anthony, her granddaughters Kamya, and Angel and a host of family and friends who were touched by her generous spirit.
