In Loving Memory

Thomas "Tommy" Tucker
April 21, 1960 — August 26, 2026
Thomas "Tommy" Tucker, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2026, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Born on April 21, 1960, in Sussex County, Virginia, Tommy spent his life bringing joy and laughter to those around him.
Raised in a loving home by his parents, Eileen and Terrance Tucker, who predeceased him, Tommy developed a warm, engaging personality that endeared him to everyone he met. He was known for his hearty laughter, his love of jokes, and a smile that could light up any room. Though he had a penchant for playful complaints, his kind heart and genuine nature always shone through.
Tommy was a proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, where he finished with honors in 1985. His passion for mechanics led him to a successful career as a mechanical engineer with Ford, where he dedicated 25 years of service, retiring in his 60s. His work was not just a job; it was a testament to his commitment and dedication, traits that were evident in every aspect of his life.
In 1981, Tommy married the love of his life, Edna, and together they built a beautiful life over 45 years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and they were blessed with five wonderful children: Jayden, Chip, Jason, Chris, and Dianna. Tommy was a devoted and loving father, always there to support and guide his children. He found immense joy in his role as a grandfather to his cherished granddaughter, Sairiya Braxton.
Tommy's life was filled with the simple pleasures he cherished—singing, dancing, and savoring every moment. His ability to find joy in the little things was a gift he shared with all who knew him. Despite the trials of his illness, Tommy's strong spirit and love for life never wavered. Now, his family takes comfort in knowing he is at peace and free from pain.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Edna, his children, Jayden, Chip, Jason, Chris, and Dianna, as well as his granddaughter, Sairiya. He is also remembered by his late son-in-law, Willis Braxton, who predeceased him.
A service to honor Tommy's life will be held on September 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Grace Murray Funeral Home, located at 1140 3rd St NE, Washington, DC.
