With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas "Tommy" "Tom" Samson, a remarkable soul who left us peacefully after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. Born in the beautiful city of Honolulu, Hawaii, Tom's life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and love.
Tom was the beloved son of the late Joseph Samson and Haruko Samson. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Haruko, his cherished wife of over 28 years, Eriko, son, Sean, and granddaughter, Mia. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Lee Samson, Rosanna Jones, Dorna Seanez, and Kathy Samson, along with many nieces, nephews, and their children, all of whom will dearly miss his presence.
Tom's early years were spent in the vibrant locale of Honolulu before moving to Monterey Park, California to enjoy mischievous young life with friends and siblings. Family later returned to Hawaii, where he graduated from Baldwin High School in Maui and pursued his passion for art at the University of Hawaii. His artistic talents were evident from a young age, delighting many in both school and home settings.
Tom's career was as diverse as it was fulfilling. He dedicated over two decades to working as a Graphic Artist with the Board of Water Supply and Chaminade University before shifting his creative focus to become a coffee roaster with Lion Coffee. It was here that he met Eriko, and together they shared a life filled with adventure and love.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was known for his witty sense of humor, always finding unique ways to make people laugh and brighten their days. An avid cyclist, Tom enjoyed the freedom of solo rides and the companionship of tandem rides with Eriko, embracing every moment spent on the open road.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for and supported Tom during his courageous battle with cancer. They are deeply appreciative of the love and kindness shown to Tom and the family during these years.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Tom's memory to a cause close to his heart. His legacy of love, laughter, and creativity will continue to inspire all who knew him.
