Thomas "Tom" Carroll
May 28, 1964 — May 15, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Thomas "Tom" Carroll, who left this world on May 15, 2026, at the age of 61. Tom's journey began on May 28, 1964, in St. Paul, Minnesota, born to his beloved parents, James J. Carroll and Elizabeth Lorentz, who survive him and cherish his memory every day.
Tom's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. He was a man known for his quick wit and a laugh so contagious that it could light up the darkest of rooms. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will forever remember his caring nature and his simple joys: PB&J sandwiches, bananas, and chocolate milk. Each banana he enjoyed came with a sticker that he proudly wore on his shirt, a small yet endearing testament to his delight in life's little pleasures.
St. Paul was just the beginning for Tom, who found a true sense of community and purpose in his work at MRCI, where he was employed from 2002 until the onset of the Covid pandemic. Throughout his career, he touched many lives, and his dedication was a mirror of his heart—a heart that was large and gracious.
Tom was a vibrant member of several organizations that enriched his life and those around him. His involvement with the Aktion Theatre Club, Jesus Cares, and LEEP displayed his passion for connection and creativity. He thrived in the camaraderie and support of these communities, which were so dear to him.
Beyond his work and community involvement, Tom found immense joy in spending time with his dear housemates, Nancy and Nicholas. Together, they shared countless cherished moments—whether it was tackling math worksheets, indulging in episodes of his favorite shows, or making their cherished trips to Dairy Queen.
Tom was predeceased by his cousins, Patricia Thomas and Judy Jobe, whose memories he held close to his heart. His caregivers at the Harry Meyering Center, Pathstone, and MRCI were not just his helpers but his friends, forming a network of support that enriched his life immeasurably.
A service to celebrate Tom's life will be held on what would have been his 62nd birthday, May 28, 2026, at 3:30 PM at the Harry Meyering Center located at 109 Homestead Road, Mankato, MN 56001. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Harry Meyering Center, MRCI, or Pathstone Day Services, organizations that were instrumental in Tom's life.
The Carroll family extends their deepest gratitude to St. Croix Hospice and the Harry Meyering Center staff for their compassionate care during Tom's final days. Their dedication provided comfort and peace, for which his family will be eternally grateful.
As we bid farewell to Tom, we hold onto the laughter he shared, the love he gave, and the memories that will forever remain in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Tom. Your spirit and joy will live on with all who knew you.
