Thomas Terry

April 8, 1945 — April 8, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Thomas Terry, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and steadfast friend. Thomas departed this world on the very day he came into it, April 8, 2026, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loving family at Jackson Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. Born on April 8, 1945, in the pastoral setting of Lauderdale County, TN, Thomas was the cherished son of the late Arl Leon and Edith (Hubbard) Terry. He was preceded in death by his parents, along with his three sisters, Shirlon McMurray, Neomi Hastings, and Sue Dickerson, as well as his three brothers, Wymond Terry, Bobby Terry, and O'dell Terry. Their memories continued to illuminate his life and were a constant source of inspiration and comfort. Thomas shared 60 beautiful years of marriage with his devoted wife, Angelia (Wales) Terry. Together, they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family. His legacy continues through his two sons, Glen Terry and his wife Glenda of Atoka, TN, and Kyle Terry and his partner Shelia Roberts of Halls, TN. The joy of his life was undoubtedly his grandchildren, Hanna Terry, Kloye Townsend, Wilson Terry, McKenzie Roberts, and Mylze Roberts, as well as his great-grandchild, Harper Mathes, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life. Thomas was a man of the earth, dedicating his professional life to farming and truck driving. His hands were those of a laborer, yet they were gentle and full of love when he held his family close. Later, he established Terry's Lawn Service, where he not only tended to lawns but also cultivated friendships and community. A proud member of the Palestine Methodist Church, Thomas's faith was the cornerstone of his existence. He cherished his church family and found solace and strength in their fellowship. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life, influencing his actions and the relationships he nurtured. Thomas had a fervent passion for automobiles, delighting in car shows and auctions. He spent countless hours restoring his beloved old truck and cars, finding peace and satisfaction under the hood. His outgoing nature and genuine interest in others made him a friend to many, and his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. Above all, Thomas treasured the time spent with his family, especially his "grandbabies." He was a constant presence at family gatherings, creating memories that will be cherished forever. His warmth, laughter, and steadfast love will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through those he held dear. A service to honor and celebrate Thomas's life will be held on April 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Palestine Methodist Church, located at 2700 Bruceville Slab Rd., Dyersburg, TN 38024. Family, friends, and community members are invited to join in remembrance of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Palestine Methodist Church, in memory of Thomas Terry, to continue his legacy of faith and community service. Thomas Terry's life was a testament to love, hard work, and devotion. While he may have left this earthly realm, his spirit, and the values he instilled will endure, guiding and comforting those he loved.
