Born on August 31, 1954, in the heart of Norfolk County, Virginia, Thomas was the beloved son of Jesse and Doris Reid. He was predeceased by his dear sister Thomasina Reid, but leaves behind a legacy deeply etched in the hearts of his surviving family and friends. Thomas's early years were spent in Norfolk County, where he developed a deep love for the sea and a profound sense of duty. In 1972, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dedication until 1974. His time in the Navy was marked by courage and an unwavering commitment to his fellow servicemen. In 1974, Thomas married the love of his life, Mamie L. Reid. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership, spanning over five decades. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Thomas was a devoted father to his sons, Thomas Reid Jr. and Marcus Reid, and took immense pride in their accomplishments and the men they have become. Thomas was a man of many talents and interests. His warmth and wisdom were cherished by his sister, Mary Johnson, and by a host of nieces and nephews who looked up to him as a guiding light. His generous spirit and quick wit endeared him to all who knew him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Thomas's life and legacy.
