November 26, 1945 — June 25, 2026

Thomas Lee, born on November 26, 1945, in the small, tight-knit community of Eutaw, Alabama, passed peacefully from this earthly life on June 25, 2026, at the age of 80. His journey was marked by an unwavering dedication to family, service, and the simple joys of life. Thomas was the beloved son of Thomas Oliver Lee, Sr., and Nancy Ann Lee. He was one of ten children and is survived by his siblings Shirley, Melba, Fred, Linda Bailey (Thomas), Gail, Nancy, Sheila, Donald, and Tonya. The Lee family was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and shared experiences, and Thomas cherished each moment spent with them. A devoted father and grandfather, Thomas’s legacy lives on through his daughter, Ocean Sabine (Bean) Lee, and his cherished grandchildren, Lena and her brother. They were the light of his life and a testament to the love and wisdom he imparted freely. Thomas’s life was one of service and exploration. After attending Business School in Collingswood, New Jersey, where he studied Travel Agency Operations and Cosmetology, he proudly served two terms in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. His dedication to his country was matched only by his commitment to his faith; after relocating to Washington, DC, Thomas embraced Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, finding peace and purpose in his spiritual journey. In Washington, DC, Thomas made his home for over 30 years, becoming a beloved member of the community. He was known for his quiet demeanor, kindness, and respect for all he encountered, treating each person as family. His heart was vast, and his wisdom was a gift he shared generously. Thomas found joy in life’s simple pleasures. His favorite colors were green and blue, reflecting his love for nature and the ocean's vastness. He savored the taste of soy sauce chicken and found solace in the melodies of his favorite song, “Game Changer” by Johnny Gill. His fondest childhood memory was growing up on his mother’s family farm with Meada, where the seeds of his gentle nature were sown. Of all his travels, Hong Kong was a place that captured his heart with its vibrant culture and rich history. A private ceremony will be held to celebrate Thomas’s life, honoring his wishes for an intimate farewell. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to the medical team at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, for their care and compassion. The family also extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported Thomas over the years, especially his close friends of more than 40 years. Your love and friendship were an integral part of his life, and for that, they are eternally grateful. Thomas’s life was a testament to the power of love, service, and simplicity. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
