Thomas Lightfoot
May 20, 1932 — June 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound respect that we announce the passing of Thomas Lightfoot, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the age of 94. Surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and four children, Thomas courageously fought a long battle with pulmonary cancer, finally finding eternal rest at his home in Florida.
Born on May 20, 1932, in McAlester, Oklahoma, Thomas was the beloved son of Mary Janel and Albert Lee Lightfoot. He grew up with a strong sense of family and community, values instilled in him by his parents, and ones he carried forward throughout his life. Predeceased by his parents, his brother Albert Lee Jr., and his adored wife Betty Lightfoot, Thomas's legacy continues through his children and grandchildren who were the pride and joy of his life.
Thomas served his country with honor in the United States Army from 1952 to 1964, a period that shaped his character with resilience and dedication. After his military service, he embarked on a journey to California where destiny introduced him to Betty More, his soulmate. They married in 1964, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three wonderful children—Stacey Lightfoot-Scott, Travis Lightfoot, and Michael Lightfoot—who, along with eight grandchildren, continue to carry forward the family torch.
Thomas was a man of simple pleasures, finding immense joy in the great outdoors. He was a true lover of nature, often taking his family on camping trips and teaching his sons and grandsons the art of fishing, a cherished tradition that will live on through them. His passion for exploring led him to travel across the states in his RV, visiting national parks that became the backdrop of countless family memories. His love for adventure and the natural world was a gift he passed down to his family, inspiring a love for exploration that they will continue in his memory.
Those who knew Thomas will remember him for his infectious smile and humor that could light up any room. He had an extraordinary gift for making friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression with his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. Friends and family alike can recall moments where Thomas's selflessness touched their lives, a testament to the profound impact he had on those around him.
Thomas's life will be honored on July 4, 2026, at Vive City Chapel, located at 15651 NW 6th Ave, Miami, FL 33169, with a service beginning at 10:00 PM. As we gather to celebrate the life of a remarkable man, we invite all who knew him to join in remembering the laughter, love, and light he brought into the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Thomas's name, a fitting tribute to a man who lived his life in service and love for others. His spirit will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of his family and friends, and his life's story will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
