Thomas Jerome Bevel

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas Jerome Bevel, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, who departed this life on July 29, 2026, at the age of 73. Thomas was born on June 5, 1953, in Tampa, Florida, to the late Thomas and Albertha Bevel, who predeceased him and whom he now joins in eternal peace. He is survived by his brother, Anthony Bevel, and Anthony's wife, Shirley, who together shared a close and loving relationship with Thomas. His nephew, Avery Bevel, held a special place in his heart and brought immense joy and pride to his life. Education was a cornerstone of Thomas's life; he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Florida State University. This foundation led him to a fulfilling career at Bell South, where he worked as a talented graphic artist. Thomas's creativity and passion for the visual arts were evident in everything he did, leaving a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. Thomas was a talented illustrator , published in "Listening to the Grass Grow. He drew and presented caricatures to nationally known figures Neil Diamond, Oprah Winfrey, Diana Ross (his favorite) , Linda Rondstadt, and Maynard Jackson. Outside of his professional life, Thomas was an avid comic book collector, a hobby that brought him joy and connected him with a vibrant community of fellow enthusiasts. His passion for all things related to "Phantom of the Opera" was well-known among his friends and family, and he often shared his love for this classic with those around him. The Bevel family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jeff Fuller for his unwavering support over the last several months—a testament to the impact Thomas had on those around him and the lasting friendships he cultivated throughout his life. Thank you to the team at Somerset Retirement Community for keeping Thomas safe and well looked after. Thank you to the friends that visited Thomas these last weeks and months to show him how much he is loved. Thomas Jerome Bevel will be remembered for his gentle spirit, creative mind, and the warmth he brought into the lives of everyone he met. Though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
