With profound sadness and enduring love, we announce the passing of Thomas Gulling, cherished husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. Tom departed this world peacefully at home on June 7, 2026, surrounded by his devoted family, after courageously battling melanoma for six years. His life, a tapestry of love, service, and dedication, leaves an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born on September 6, 1972, in Canton, Ohio, Tom was the beloved son of Paul "Edward" and Dianna Dietrich Gulling. He was predeceased by his father, Ed Gulling, and his grandparents, Harry and Marie Gulling, and Merne and Hazel Dietrich, who undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms. Tom’s life was a testament to resilience and commitment. A proud graduate of Marlington High School in 1991, he soon answered a higher calling to serve his country in the U.S. Army. From 1991 to 1995, Tom served with honor in the 65th Engineer Battalion. His dedication earned him numerous accolades, including the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Defense Ribbon, Overseas Ribbon, and Good Conduct Ribbon. He was also a graduate of Air Assault School, a testament to his unwavering determination and courage. After his military service, Tom embarked on a distinguished 30-plus-year career as a CDL LTL freight driver, working with esteemed companies such as Holland, FedEx Freight, and Saia. Over his career, he logged over 2 million miles, a testament to his work ethic and dedication. In his personal life, Tom was a beacon of love and loyalty. On July 26, 2015, he married the love of his life, Jill, and embraced the role of a devoted husband and father. Tom's family was the center of his universe. He was a loving parent to Allison (John) Seifert and Cameron Hunt, and from his previous marriage, he is survived by his children, Kyle and Ashley. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his beloved grandchildren, who will cherish his memory and stories for years to come. A lifetime member of Amvets Post #112, Tom was deeply rooted in his community and cherished the camaraderie it provided. His love for life extended beyond his family and work. He found joy in boating, golfing, traveling with friends, bowling, and playing euchre. An ardent sports fan, Tom's loyalty to Ohio State football and the Cleveland Browns was unwavering, a passion he shared with friends and family alike. Tom's personal characteristics and qualities were as remarkable as his life. Known for his immaculate car detailing skills, he possessed an energy and zest for life that was infectious. His loyalty and kindness endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. As we say goodbye to a remarkable soul, we take comfort in knowing that Tom's spirit will forever live on in the memories and hearts of those he touched. His life was a testament to the power of love, dedication, and kindness, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tom's memory to organizations dedicated to melanoma research and support for veterans, ensuring his legacy of service and love continues to make a difference.
