Thomas Fredrick Carle
May 14, 1949 — August 29, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Fredrick Carle, who left us on August 29, 2026 at his home in Glenburn. Born on May 14, 1949, at Milo Community Hospital, Thomas lived a life full of love, service, and dedication. He is predeceased by his beloved parents, Ester Mary Carle and Thomas Fredrick Carle.
Thomas's journey in life was marked by his unwavering commitment to family, community, and country. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, reaching the rank of Sergeant while stationed in Japan, a testament to his courage and dedication.
A skilled machinist, Thomas graduated from Brownville High School in 1967 and further honed his craft at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. His career included positions at the General Electric Company and the Millinocket Foundry. Not one to rest on his laurels, Thomas later owned and operated his own drywall business and worked for NyTech Supple CO. as a supplier.
On April 26, 1980, Thomas married Rowena Florence Carle, the love of his life, in Brownville, Maine. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, raising two children and cherishing time spent with their grandchildren.
Thomas was an avid car enthusiast with a deep passion for motorsports and antique cars. His love for these hobbies was only matched by his joy in sharing them with others. He relished golfing with friends, engaging in long conversations, and embarking on day trips around Maine with Rowena. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.
A dedicated member of the American Legion, Thomas was a pillar of his community, always ready to lend a helping hand. His warm spirit and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Rowena Florence Carle; stepdaughter, Leisa O'Clair; stepson, Dean Phillip O'Clair; sister, Emma Marie Howell; and his beloved grandchildren, Gavin Spellman, Brycelin Wilson, Nylaina Wilson, and Alexandera O'Clair.
A service to celebrate Thomas's life will be held on September 17, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the Birmingham Funeral Home, located at 438 Maine Street, Old Town, Maine 04468.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association in Thomas's memory.
As we remember Thomas, we hold close the special message from his family:
"He was the anchor in the storm, the heart that kept the fires warm.
A husband's devotion, deep and true, a father and grandfather's strength that pulled us through.
The rooms are quiet, the chair is still, there is a space no one can fill.
Yet in the love he left behind, a lasting comfort we will find."
Thomas Fredrick Carle's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind a profound and lasting impact on the lives he touched.
