It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas F. Fitts, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on April 10, 1937, in the warm embrace of Brookline, Massachusetts, Tom was the beloved son of Joseph L. Fitts and Alice M. Fitts.
Tom's early years were rooted in the vibrant community of Brookline, where he graduated from Brookline High School. He soon embarked on a noble path of service by enlisting in the U.S. Army. Stationed in Germany, he served his country with honor as an SP4 in the Artillery Unit from November 1957 until his honorable discharge on October 12, 1960, earning the Good Conduct Medal along the way.
In 1964, Tom married the love of his life, Alice M. Fitts, in a ceremony surrounded by family and friends in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Their union was a testament to enduring love and companionship, as they shared more than 62 beautiful years together until Alice's passing. Tom's devotion to Alice was evident in every facet of their life together, and her memory remained a guiding light for him.
Professionally, Tom dedicated over four decades to General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he excelled as a Turbine Specialist. His work ethic and expertise earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Upon retirement, Tom embraced new passions, becoming an avid golfer and relishing his membership at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.
Tom was a true outdoorsman, finding joy and solace in nature's embrace. He cherished hunting in the woods of New Hampshire and found tranquility in cutting wood at a friend's woodlot. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family and his country. A lifelong member of the American Legion, Tom was a true patriot who held deeply to his faith and values.
Known for his sharp wit and infectious sense of humor, Tom brought laughter and joy to everyone around him. His love for comedy and his ability to find humor in life's moments made him a beloved figure in the lives of many.
