December 9, 1952 — April 24, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Edward Winborn, a beloved father, grandfather, and cherished member of the community, who left this world on April 24, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on December 9, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, Thomas was the treasured son of Wilburn and Betty Winborn, whose loving influence shaped the compassionate and joyful man he became. Thomas’s life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and dedication. He was preceded in death by his dear parents, his sister Sylvia Jean Newby, and his brother Richard Alvin Winborn Sr., with whom he shared countless fond memories. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his two devoted daughters, Jessica Roberts (Anthony) and Jennifer Winborn, and his five adoring grandchildren, Autumn, Sydney, Adam, Alyissa, and Zayden. His family was the center of his world, and his enduring love for them will forever echo in their hearts. Throughout his career, Thomas found purpose and joy in his work, delivering newspapers for The Winter Haven New Chef and serving countless patrons at Morrison's Cafeteria. His commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life; he was an active and proud member of the deaf community in Polk County, where he fostered connections and friendships that enriched his life and those around him. Thomas was a man of simple pleasures, finding solace and joy in the great outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, passions he pursued with unwavering enthusiasm and skill. Those who knew him well also knew of his steadfast love for the Green Bay Packers, a team he supported with the same loyalty and fervor he showed in all aspects of his life. Perhaps Thomas will be best remembered for his boundless humor and infectious spirit. He had an extraordinary ability to make people laugh, brightening the days of those around him with his playful teasing and gentle ribbing, always delivered with love. His laughter was contagious, and his presence brought warmth and joy to every room he entered. As we bid farewell to Thomas, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by love, laughter, and a deep connection to family, friends, and community. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift those fortunate enough to have known him. A memorial service to honor Thomas Edward Winborn will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears as they pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched so many lives. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to organizations supporting the deaf community, ensuring that Thomas’s spirit of compassion and community continues to thrive. Thomas, you will be deeply missed, but your laughter, love, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
