It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas C. McCarthy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Tom departed this world peacefully on May 16, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on July 26, 1948, in Oradell, New Jersey, Tom was a beacon of kindness, wisdom, and humor whose legacy will be cherished by many. Tom was a man of great intellect and accomplishment, having graduated from River Dell High School in 1967 and earning a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. His career was marked by dedication and innovation, serving as Vice President and later President of Computer Solutions in New Jersey for nearly six decades. In his professional life, Tom was respected for his visionary outlook and commitment to excellence in technology. Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was a man who found immense joy in the bonds of family. He married the love of his life, Patricia, in October of 1978, and together they built a beautiful family. Tom is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia, and their cherished children: Kathleen, Brian (Alice), and Shawn. He was a loving grandfather to five grandchildren who brought him endless joy and pride. Tom's family was the center of his world, and he relished every moment spent with them, whether it was sharing a hearty laugh or engaging in deep conversations. Tom was known for his keen intellect and quick wit, qualities that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a passion for technology and was often found experimenting and creating new ideas, a testament to his lifelong curiosity and love for learning. His lively discussions and ability to engage others in meaningful conversations will be fondly remembered by friends and family alike. In addition to his immediate family, Tom is survived by his brother, Steven McCarthy (Jan), and his sister, Patricia Schiazza (Al). He was predeceased by his parents, Cornelius and Theresa McCarthy, and his brother, Michael McCarthy. Tom's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared. Family, friends, and all those whose lives were touched by Tom are invited to celebrate his life at a service on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, located on Elm Street in Oradell, New Jersey. As we gather to honor Tom's memory, let us remember the joy and light he brought into the world, his unwavering love for his family, and the indelible mark he left on all who knew him.
