It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Thomas Anthony Spainhour, fondly known as Tony, who left this world peacefully on April 12, 2026, at Forsyth Medical Center. Tony was born on October 4, 1953, in Forsyth County, and throughout his life, he was deeply rooted in the community he loved.
Tony was a devoted family man, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Paul Ray and Helen Thomas Spainhour, and his brother Kenny Spainhour. Tony is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Tammy Spainhour, who stood steadfastly by his side through all of life’s joys and challenges. He leaves behind two devoted daughters, Jennifer Dixon (James) and Kristen Delgado (Luis), who inherited his love for life. Tony was the proud Pawpaw of four grandchildren: Tytus, Thompson, Hudson, and Adelaide, each of whom brought immense joy and pride into his life. He is also survived by his brother Paul, and his sisters Lynn, Joni, Kim, and Angie, and a multitude of nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish their memories of him.
Tony's career journey began working alongside his father as a skilled carpenter, building homes in Lewisville that still stand as a testament to his craftsmanship. Later, he transitioned into the field of HVAC, where he found his niche as a locksmith at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, until his retirement. His professional life was marked by a commitment to excellence and an unwavering dedication to his work.
Outside of his professional life, Tony was an avid deer hunter who cherished every opportunity to be immersed in the great outdoors. His love for nature was matched only by his love for storytelling. Tony never met a stranger and was renowned for the warmth and humor he brought to every conversation. His stories, filled with wit and wisdom, will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of hearing them.
In keeping with Tony’s wishes, the family will privately honor his life and legacy at a later date. The family also extends their heartfelt gratitude to the ICU staff at Forsyth Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided during Tony’s final days, with special thanks to Sharon and Carrie for their kindness and support.
Tony Spainhour's legacy is one of love and laughter, of a man who loved his family fiercely and lived life to the fullest. As his family lovingly expresses, “Love you more than you know.” Tony's spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those who loved him, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide them.
