December 2, 1946 — November 4, 2026
It is with deep sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Thomas Allen Strickland, who departed this world on November 4, 2026, surrounded by the love and warmth of his family and friends. Born on December 2, 1946, in Grampian, Pennsylvania, Allen was the cherished son of Mary Elizabeth Mathews and Tom Anderson Strickland, both of whom predeceased him.
Allen's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and service. He graduated from Leon High School in Tallahassee in 1965 and went on to earn an Associate of Arts degree from FCCJ. His commitment to serving his country was evident as he dedicated 20 honorable years to the United States Navy, retiring in 1985. Following his military career, Allen continued to serve his country and community by working at NADEP for another two decades, retiring in 2009.
On January 12, 1968, in Tallahassee, Florida, Allen married the love of his life, Dale Lee. Together, they crafted a beautiful tapestry of life, enriched by 58 years of unwavering love and partnership. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Beverly Strickland Watkins and David Nathaniel Strickland, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and integrity.
A man of many interests, Allen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing, boating, and camping with his family, and was especially fond of tending to his plants and animals. His passion for learning never waned, and he eagerly explored a wide array of subjects throughout his life.
Allen's gentle nature, sense of humor, and talent for storytelling endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and was known for his boundless generosity and genuine goodness.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife, Dale; his children, Beverly and David; and his seven adored grandchildren: Jessica (30), Simon (26), Helen (25), Jacob (25), Mathew (25), Nicholas (23) and Ingrid (22). Allen also took immense pride in his great-grandson, Zayn, who, at four months old, was already a bright light in his life. His close friends, June, Richard, and Vickie, and all of his extended family, will miss his love and companionship.
Thomas Allen Strickland will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all those who knew him, and he will remain forever in our hearts.
