In Loving Memory

Thomas Acuff
March 1, 1945 — April 27, 2026
With a heart full of fond memories and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Thomas Acuff, who passed away on April 27, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on March 1, 1945, in Grover, North Carolina, Thomas was a cherished son to the late Darell and Louise Acuff. His journey was one of love, kindness, and a simple joy that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Thomas lived a life full of adventure and dedication. For over 25 years, he steered his career as a truck driver, a path that led him to travel across the globe. His stories from the road were filled with the wonder of new places and the warmth of the people he met along the way. Yet, despite his travels, his heart always remained close to his roots and his family.
His love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing, pastimes that brought him peace and connection to nature. Thomas found solace in the quiet beauty of his vacation home in Tennessee, a place where he could unwind and reflect on the many blessings in his life.
Thomas is remembered as an exceptional man whose generosity knew no bounds. His kindness was a beacon of light, reaching far beyond his immediate circle. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, often offering the shirt off his back to those in need. His profound faith in the Lord was a guiding force in his life, and he found immense joy in sharing his love for Christ with others.
A family man at heart, Thomas cherished every moment spent spoiling his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children David Acuff, Richard Acuff, and Suzanne Capps, as well as his grandchildren Kyle Acuff, Colt Acuff, Jade Capps, and Cadie Hamrick. His family, including 12 great-grandbabies, will forever carry his spirit in their hearts.
Thomas is reunited with his dear parents, Darell and Louise Acuff, who predeceased him, and his passing is a poignant reminder of the circle of life, love, and eternal connection.
A service to honor and celebrate Thomas’s life will be held on April 30, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the First Love Independent Baptist Church, located at 2636 South Lafayette Street, Shelby, NC 28152. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects, sharing in the love and joy that Thomas brought into the world.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, let us remember the lessons he imparted: to live with kindness, embrace life’s adventures, and cherish our loved ones deeply. Thomas Acuff will be dearly missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all those who were blessed to know him.
