It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Theresa Reese, who departed this life on May 11, 2026, just one day shy of her 62nd birthday. Born on May 12, 1964, in the vibrant city of Atlanta, Georgia, Theresa was the cherished daughter of the late Algie and Susie Reese. Theresa was a beacon of warmth and kindness, touching the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. Her radiant smile and warm temperament had the remarkable ability to light up any room, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of family and friends alike. Theresa's educational journey began in Atlanta Public Schools, where she attended John Hope Elementary and Austin T. Walden Middle, ultimately graduating from Grady High School with the Class of 1982. She furthered her education at Atlanta Area Technical College, where she pursued her passion for Master Cosmetology. Throughout her remarkable career, Theresa demonstrated an unparalleled work ethic and dedication. She spent many years with the McGraw Hill Publishing Company, contributing to the literary world, and devoted over 13 years to nurturing the youth of Atlanta through her work at the MLK Jr. and Selena Butler centers. Her commitment to service continued with her roles at the State of Georgia Tag & Title office and the Fulton County Tax Commissioner's Office, where she worked for over a decade. In every position she held, Theresa was known for her diligence and unwavering commitment. Theresa was also a gifted baker, renowned for her delectable traditional "Pound Cake" and "Sweet Potato Pie," which brought joy to countless gatherings and family celebrations. Theresa's legacy is carried forward by her loving children, Renkica S. Young (Collin) and Frank B. Smith Jr., her adopted daughter/niece, Daquaashie L. Johnson, and her cherished grandchildren, Terence Phillips III, Teriq Phillips, Tenai Phillips, Kobe Brown, Royal Smith, and Truth Smith. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Clara Martin, Catherine Whitaker, Jeanette Reese, and Wanda Sheffield, and her brothers, Harry Taylor Sr., Algie Reese, and Donnie Reese. Theresa's extended family includes a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were deeply touched by her presence. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Algie and Susie Reese, her sister, Mildred Reese, her brother, Samuel Reese, and her cherished grandson, Tyler Smith. A celebration of Theresa's life will be held on May 20, 2026, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the extraordinary woman she was. Her memory will forever remain a source of inspiration and love to all who knew her. Theresa Reese leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and warmth that will continue to inspire and uplift those who were blessed to have her in their lives. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
