May 1, 1960 — May 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Johnson, a spirited and loving soul, who departed this world on May 4, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on May 1, 1960, in Pratt, Kansas, Theresa was a vibrant presence whose life was a testament to resilience, humor, and boundless love. Theresa was the cherished daughter of Paul and Irene Estabrooks, who predeceased her, alongside her beloved sister, Ritha Wilcox, and numerous dogs and horses she adored throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and laughter, remembered fondly by her surviving family: her devoted husband, William “Bill” Johnson of Baker City, with whom she shared a unique love story that spanned decades, including a memorable wedding on the back of a motorcycle in 1984 and a heartfelt reunion in 2021. Theresa was the proud and loving mother of her son, Mike “Isaiah” Johnson (Estabrooks) of Baker City. Her pride and joy extended to her grandsons, Dylan Estabrooks (21) and Noah Webb (17), who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth “Liz” Estabrooks, Kelley (Hank) Finch, Connie (Brock) Gassner, and Verlyn (David) Richmond, along with her nieces and nephews: Anthony Constantine III, Eli Taylor-Oberlander, Amasa Atkinson, Cory Rice, and Skyler Gassner. Her family was her world, and she held each member close, treasuring the bonds they shared. Theresa's professional life was as varied and colorful as her personality. She was a woman of many talents, working tirelessly as a bartender, cowboy, waitress, and babysitter in her early years. Her compassionate nature led her to work with adults with disabilities, and she found fulfillment in her later years providing in-home caregiving. Her dedication to those she cared for was as profound as her commitment to her family. An adventurous spirit, Theresa loved being outdoors, hiking, and exploring the beauty of nature. She found joy in rock tumbling and shared an infectious sense of humor with everyone she met. Her dogs, Freddy, Auggie, and Cooter, along with her cat, Betty, were her constant companions, each one a testament to her boundless love for animals. Theresa's life was marked by her stubborn, hard-headed, yet deeply loving nature. She was known for her candid, sometimes abrasive humor, which endeared her to all who knew her. Her ability to find joy in the simplest of moments and her unwavering love for her immediate family were the hallmarks of her life. Her journey through life was not without challenges, yet she faced each one with courage and a smile. Theresa's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her. In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Theresa's life. As we remember her, may we find comfort in the laughter she shared, the love she gave, and the memories she leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Theresa. You will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
