Theresa Grace Sutton

June 20, 1964 — May 13, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Theresa Grace Sutton, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on May 13, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on June 20, 1964, in the warm embrace of Warsaw, North Carolina, Theresa left this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, as the sun set on a life lived with unyielding laughter, love, and grace. Theresa was the cherished daughter of the late Henry Jacob and Bessie Faison Sutton Jr., who undoubtedly welcomed her into their eternal embrace alongside her beloved daughter, T'Keyah Sutton Rose, who predeceased her. Theresa's legacy is carried on by her devoted son, Erick Sutton, and his wife, Miracle, of Warsaw, NC. Her spirit continues to shine through her siblings, Sharon Riddick and her husband Andrew of Warsaw, NC, and Henry Sutton of Raleigh, NC. She leaves behind a nephew, Keon Sutton, and a niece, Sharee Wilson, who will forever hold her close in their hearts. Theresa was immensely proud of her seven grandchildren: Ahmad Williams, Tyquise Wilson, Jamonie Bizzell, Azariah Sutton, Violet McMillan, Jason McMillan, and Liston Rose. Each grandchild bears a piece of her vibrant spirit, a testament to the love she showered upon them. She shared a special bond with her cousin, LaShonda Huell, and found joy in the companionship of her close friends Valerie Williams, Annetta Jordan, Kevin Smith, and Patrice Fields. Their memories of laughter and friendship will be treasured forever. An alumna of Condosa High School in Washington, DC, Theresa furthered her education with an Associate Degree from Sampson Community College. Her thirst for knowledge was only rivaled by her passion for making a difference in the lives of those around her. Theresa's heart was forever open to the children of her community, whose smiles and laughter brought her endless joy. Her love for true crime shows kept her mind sharp and inquisitive, while her knack for crafts brought beauty and creativity into her everyday life. Known far and wide as the life of the party, Theresa's sense of humor and infectious laughter filled every room she entered. Even in her later years, she remained a beacon of joy, finding strength in her faith. Theresa loved the Lord wholeheartedly, and her unwavering praise for Him was a source of comfort and strength, even during her illness. In honoring Theresa's life, we remember a woman who embraced every moment with an open heart, whose laughter resonated like a joyful hymn, and whose love continues to echo through the lives she touched. We hold her close, remembering her as a guiding light, forever cherished and never forgotten. A celebration of Theresa's life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, laughter will be heard, and her spirit will be celebrated by all who had the privilege to know and love her. Until then, we find solace in the beautiful memories she leaves behind, and the unwavering love that now watches over us from above.
